Gillette Crime Stoppers Inc. organization was established in 1983 and is a proud member of both Crime Stoppers International and Crime Stoppers USA. We are a 100% civilian-based volunteer organization, with a board of directors and established as a 501c3.
Crime Stoppers was the brainchild of a young Albuquerque detective who was concerned by the number of unsolved cases he and fellow detectives were working, and was particularly frustrated that all possible leads had been exhausted regarding the murder of a young college student. He felt information that would solve the crime was available from someone other than the criminal. That principal led to the major factors that needed to be addressed so individuals would come forward.
Crime Stoppers operates on the effective idea that offering cash rewards significantly encourages individuals who might otherwise hesitate to contact law enforcement to share valuable information about criminals and ongoing crime. In this way, they can actively help keep the community safe while potentially earning money for tips that lead to an arrest or apprehension.
Caller information is never used in the case again the person being reported, ensuring that all tips are completely Anonymous and Confidential.
